Ronald Mueck is an Australian hyper-realist sculptor that works out of the United Kingdom.
Ron Mueck, born in Melbourne in 1958, has worked for 20 years as puppet-maker for advertising ventures and TV shows like “The Muppets” show, even making an impressive turn as a special effects creator in movies like Labyrinth, before becoming a devoted artist.
His sculptures are fabricated using mixed techniques, and reproduce human figures in a hyper-realistic way. I have been astonished viewing them in person in an exhibition in London, as they’re really incredible, not just for the realism and details, but also for the strange effect of the size which serves to create a both real and unreal effect.
