The NOH8 Campaign is a photographic “silent” protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska (http://www.bouska.net) and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8, a 2008 amendment to the state Constitution which bans same-sex marriages. Photos feature subjects with duct tape covering their mouths, and NOH8 painted on their cheeks in protest to their voices being silenced by the controversial Prop 8.
Nearly 2 1/2 years since its inception, the NOH8 Campaign continues to grow at an overwhelming rate, and includes portraits of everyday Californians from all walks of life, politicians, military personnel, law enforcement, artists, and celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and model Lindsay Marie(pictured).
The NOH8 Campaign has received a groundswell of support from around the world, and has appeared in countless national and international television pro. The images are widely used on various social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to spread the message of equality. Eventually the images will be compiled for a large-scale media campaign.
