Asheville, NC is generally known for its mountainous surroundings, vibrant music scene, and a hip, small mountain town vibe. Yet over the course of recent years, the community has been gaining national notoriety for a pre-Halloween event dedicated to that most lovable character of the undead, the zombie.

The Zombiewalk event is the highlight of the town’s annual fall festival, Ashtoberfest, and features throngs of pale faced, bloody, and groaning revelers, and a good amount of alcohol we’re guessing.  Participants go all out, from high end zombie contacts, to bleeding prosthetic limbs, to custom designed masks that look so real, they’d make you turn and run for your life, unless of course, you are one of them already!

Start getting your goulish gear together now, and prepare to head to the beautiful mountains of North Carolina on the weekend of October 10, to get your zombie freak on!
